Course Description

This course explores Christian education and spiritual formation through Ronald T. Habermas’ “Introduction to Christian Education and Formation.” Students will examine theological and social science foundations, analyze Christ’s model for holistic restoration, and apply insights to ministry with children, adolescents, adults, and the global church. Emphasis is placed on integrating classical Christian education with contemporary formation practices across cultures and developing a lifelong plan of Christ-centered discipleship and restoration.

 

Course Objectives

  • Evaluate the biblical and theological foundations of Christian education and spiritual formation.
  • Analyze the integration of theology, anthropology, and developmental theory in shaping Christian formation.
  • Assess the roles of Jesus Christ (Teacher, Learner, Physician, Servant, Son of Man) as models for education and discipleship.
  • Design ministry approaches for children, adolescents, and adults rooted in holistic formation.
  • Interpret the global tasks of the church (evangelism, service, fellowship, advocacy, worship) and apply them in contemporary ministry contexts.
  • Formulate a lifelong plan of Christ-centered restoration for personal and professional ministry.
